Auto Costing Engine

Where: Estimation → Auto Costing.

Turn a saved BOM into a selling price you can defend. The engine adds sheet-metal fabrication, powder coating, internal wiring, labour and overhead on top of component cost, applies your margin — and shows every step it used.

Calculating​

  1. Select the BOM.
  2. Optionally enter enclosure dimensions (e.g. 800×600×250 L×W×H mm).
  3. Set the profit margin % (default 18).
  4. Click Calculate Cost.

The breakdown shows: Component Cost → Sheet Metal Fabrication → Powder Coating → Internal Wiring → Labour → Overhead → Total Manufacturing Cost → Profit → Selling Price, plus a numbered Calculation Trace of every step.

Dimensions = free and deterministic

With enclosure dimensions supplied, the whole calculation is deterministic and uses no AI credits. Leave them blank and the AI estimates wiring and labour from the BOM (~100 credits) — the result carries an AI caveat note.

Good to know​

  • This page is a calculator — it doesn't save results to the BOM or create a quotation. To persist pricing, use the BOM Generator's Charges & Margin block; those values flow into quotations.
  • Default margin here is 18%; the Quote Studio agent defaults to 25% — set the hint explicitly if it matters.
